Welfare benefits

Welfare benefits can help if you need a bit of extra support in these tough times. How much you receive and what you can claim is decided by the UK Government.

If you are worried about falling behind with your rent, putting food on the table or even having enough money in your pocket each week then get in touch. We’re here to help. We have a range of wraparound services to help if you are struggling.

Our welfare benefit advisor can help you claim all you are due

Welfare benefits advice

Welfare benefit advisors offer free, expert and fair advice. They can guide you through the UK Government’s changes to the welfare system.

You’ll also get help to claim all of the benefits you are due – and get support every step of the way at an appeal.

Fuel advice

Fuel advisors help tenants find the lowest energy rates. Advisors can arrange low-cost repayments if you have fallen behind with payments – or, in some cases, get debts written off.

Tenancy Support Service

We don’t want you to lose your home. The Tenancy Support Service offers short-term support to people who need extra support, are at risk or in crisis.

You can get help to:

  • make your money go further;
  • be a good neighbour;
  • find work;
  • keep your home clean and tidy;
  • get furniture; and
  • much more.

My Great Start

It can be hard when you get the keys to your new home. My Great Start helps you find your feet – and keeps you on the right path. New tenants can get budgeting and money advice, benefit support and help to find work.

Jobs and training

We want to give people in our homes as many opportunities as we can. From modern apprenticeships to key roles in our environmental teams, there are jobs and training places for you.

Click jobs and training to find the latest roles.

Free internet access

Changes to the welfare system by the UK Government mean you need to be online. We have free computer centres, with free internet and wifi, across the city. Go to Click & Connect centres to find your nearest centre.

Remember, there’s also free internet access in your local authority libraries.
